Blane Shea, along with team member Reese Abbadessa created Horizon Family Wealth Inc. as a comprehensive high-net-worth and multifamily wealth management firm nationally registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission as of September 2021. Blane celebrated his 25th year in the business in 2019 and serves as one of the portfolio managers and the Chief Compliance Officer of Horizon Family Wealth. The firm only accepts new clients on an introductory basis from existing clients and professional partners. On a discretionary basis, the team runs an exclusive and robust wealth management process. Blane also successfully co-created Riverpoint Wealth Management in 2013, a nationally registered investment advisory firm with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Prior to that, Blane had a long business relationship with Raymond James from 2004 to 2013 as a wealth manager.
Blane graduated from the University of Lynchburg with a Bachelor of Arts in Business. He holds his Series 65 license through Horizon Family Wealth. Blane successfully completed the Certified Private Wealth Advisor® (CPWA®) certification program though the Investments & Wealth Institute and the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. This program offers challenging educational material focused on advanced wealth management topics, including: behavioral finance, charitable and estate planning, planning for closely held business owners, planning for executives, portfolio management, retirement planning, risk management and tax planning. The comprehensive curriculum provides the level of detail wealth managers and advisors need to know in order to better serve high-net-worth clients. The Booth program combines the expertise of leading Booth finance faculty to blend academic theory with real-world relevance.

Blane and his wife, Kristin, have twin daughters, Alden and Parker. In his spare time, Blane is a yacht racer and has successfully won several regattas throughout the United States. He started sailing at age 5 in Harbor Springs, Michigan. Blane continued sailing in Michigan and eventually Chicago as well. He became the fleet captain for both the J105 and J70 classes in southern Lake Michigan. Blane now races on Striking Back J111 USA 106 as the skipper and was nominated to the J111 board in 2023 to promote growth in fleet racing.
