Blane Shea, along with team member Reese Abbadessa, created Horizon Family Wealth Inc. as a comprehensive high-net-worth and multifamily wealth management firm nationally registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Blane is the primary portfolio manager of Horizon Family Wealth running all the assets on a discretionary basis. As the Managing Partner of the firm and a fiduciary within the RIA, Blane focuses on custom solutions to fit the unique needs of our select families. Blane celebrated his 30th year in finance in 2026.

A Cincinnati native, Blane graduated from the University of Lynchburg with a Bachelor of Arts in Business. He began his career at Dean Witter/Morgan Stanley training in the twin towers in New York City then moved to Chicago to start a long business relationship with Raymond James from 2004 to 2013 as a wealth manager. This is where he began his very first company, Shea Financial Group Inc. In 2013, Blane successfully co-created his previous firm as a nationally registered investment advisory firm with the SEC as a hybrid RIA firm.

He holds his Series 65 license through Horizon Family Wealth. Blane successfully completed the Certified Private Wealth Advisor® (CPWA®) certification program though the Investments & Wealth Institute and the University of Chicago Booth School of Business Executive Education. This certification advanced his knowledge into the ultra-high-net-worth demands.

In his spare time, Blane is a yacht racer and has successfully won several regattas throughout the United States. He started sailing at age 5 in Harbor Springs, Michigan. He became the fleet captain for both the J105 and J70 classes in southern Lake Michigan. Blane now races on Striking Back J111 USA 106 as the skipper and was nominated to the J111 board in 2023 to promote growth in fleet racing. Blane and his wife, Kristin, have two daughters, Alden and Parker. In 2025 his daughter Alden raced the Chicago Mackinac race as the youngest female in the entire regatta and Parker is successfully following her ambitious goals of musical theater productions across the north shore.
